Introduction to Asem Vietnam English Center
Asem Vietnam is the only English training center in North Central Vietnam that meets international standards, from facilities and teaching staff (both Vietnamese and foreign) to quality control processes. History and Development of Asem Vietnam English Center
May 2005: Asem Vietnam was established with headquarters at 42 Nguyen Van Cu Street, Vinh City. From the early days, Asem Vietnam had only 12 Vietnamese teachers and 02 volunteers from the United Kingdom, along with 07 classrooms.
April 2008: Due to the need to expand training scale, Asem Vietnam moved its training facility to a new address at 37 Duy Tan Street, Vinh City (near SOS Children’s Village Vinh). The number of staff and teachers at this time was 28 people with 11 classrooms equipped with modern international standards.
August 2008: Asem Vietnam was proposed by the People’s Committee of Nghe An Province to receive a non-refundable grant from the GCF Program – Danida Project, under the Government of Denmark, to purchase modern educational equipment and facilities and train the teaching staff.
October 2008: Asem Vietnam and the Australian Teacher Education Institute coordinated to organize advanced teaching methodology training for Asem Vietnam’s teaching staff. After completion, the course brought a new look to Asem Vietnam.
October 2008: Asem Vietnam put into use a multimedia room, consisting of 16 high-configuration computers, internet connection, and control units for computer-based English learning.
From June 2009 to April 2010: Through the Danida Project, Asem Vietnam sent 3 staff members to study in Copenhagen, Denmark.
May 2010: This was one of the important milestones marking continuous development when Asem Vietnam opened a second training facility in Vinh City, at 56 Le Hong Phong Street.
January 2012: Ms. Tran Thi Ngoc Yen, Asem Vietnam’s training advisor, successfully defended her PhD dissertation ahead of schedule in English Teaching Methodology and returned from New Zealand to continue contributing to Asem Vietnam.
April 2012: Asem Vietnam’s Deputy Director, Mr. Le Cao Tinh, awarded the Vietnamese government’s scholarship for a PhD program in New Zealand.
June 2013: Asem Vietnam moved Facility 1 to a new address at 104B Hermann, Vinh City. The new location of Facility 1 is equipped with modern teaching equipment and has a friendly classroom system, creating a dynamic learning environment for students.
August 2013: Asem Vietnam had 2000 students at a given time.
Teaching Staff
Currently, Asem Vietnam has built a strong workforce with 50 Vietnamese people, including 2 PhDs, 36 masters, and 5 American teachers, along with 15 office staff. The number of classrooms at the 2 training facilities is 25 rooms, and 02 lab rooms. In the past 4 years, Asem Vietnam has trained nearly 6000 students annually.
